Das Château Mouton-Rothschild ist eines der berühmtesten Weingüter der Welt. Das Gut liegt im Norden der Appellation Pauillac und bewirtschaftet 82 ha Rebfläche, die mit den typischen Rebsorten des Médoc-Anbaugebiets bestockt sind: Cabernet Sauvignon (77%), Cabernet franc (9%), Merlot (12%), Petit Verdot (2%). Das Durchschnittsalter der Reben liegt bei 48 Jahren.
Die moderne Geschichte des Weingutes beginnt im Jahr 1922 als der Baron Philippe de Rothschild die Leitung übernahm. 1924 begann er damit, seinen Wein selbst auf dem Gut abzufüllen, was bislang nicht üblich war. 1926 ließ er vom Architekten Charles Siclis den berühmten „Großen Keller“ bauen (100 m lang). Seit dem Ende des zweiten Weltkrieges wurde jedes Jahr einen bekannten Künstler beauftragt, das Etikett des Jahrgangs zu gestalten. Die Sammlung umfasst Werke von so berühmten Künstlern wie Mirò, Chagall, Braque, Picasso, Warhol, Delvaux, Bacon, Motherwell...Mouton Rothschild ist ein reicher, opulenter und dichter Wein, der zur absoluten Weltklasse gehört!
